DTS on Sonys 940

    If your using a dvd player without dts decoding connected to sonys strb940 via optical - should it play???

    yes, it should

    but,

    1) Does the player support DTS (some don't)
    2) have you enabled DTS out on the player.

    Are you getting Dolby Digital tracks properly ?
    3) I seem to remember that my Sony 930 had a setting (button ?) which set the DVD option to accept only digital connections. You could have a look in your manual to see ????

    Assuming you mean a DVD player without an internal 5.1 dts decoder, then yes, it should play assuming it isn't a 'first generation' deck.....however most DVD players must have the dts digital output enabled via the audio setup menu of the player itself.
