Question DTS-HD MA 7.1 on VERO 4K 100% processors and jerky picture

HI All,

I have a file 1080p DTS-HD MA 7.1 x264.mkv. The sound plays OK but the video is really jerky. I thought VERO 4K can handle everything and I am hoping it’s just some of my default settings on it are wrong. It’s connected via HDMI to my Pioneer amp which can handle DTS-HD and I have sound set on Vero as passthrough. However it still shows on my amp as PCM and not DTS-HD. Also while playing all processor cores on the Vero go to 98%-100% so clearly it’s struggling.

I had another file with DTS-HD MA 7.1 and it plays OK. That’s the only file which is almost unwatchable.

Also it must be something with settings but recently all files (no matter what audio TrueHD, DTS, DTS-HD they all show on amp as PCM!

Is it possible that something is wrong with Vero itself? I lost front blue led light as well recently (the one that shows the Vero is on) so maybe something is wrong.

Thanks,

OSMC forums might be able to help better especially if their is a hardware fault but as OSMC is derived from Kodi the audio settings in kodi typically function like this.

Multi-channel PCM audio output
Number of channels = 5.1 or 7.1
Pass-through = disabled

Bit-streaming
Number of channels = 5.1 or 7.1
Pass-through = enabled
Tick the boxes for what formats your receiver supports. I think this also needs the settings level set to expert.

There's no difference in audio quality PCM is the same audio you just don't get the logo lights on your receiver.

They do offer a reinstall and restore method. The jerky video could be a hardware fault or a failure in the software to properly hand off to the hardware video decoder. Ask over on the OSMC forums and post the diagnostic logs (see here on how to grab them) that will let the devs know exactly whats going wrong.
