Hope you dont mind me posting this here, but I got the German DVD of Fifth Element today which is DTS and anamorphic..The box states English DTS-ES (Discrete) and DD-EX..but my AVCA1SE only shows a DTS matrix 6.1 soundtrack. What's happening..?? Is the disc not discrete or do I need to do something else on the amp. Other ES titles I have all show the signal as discrete..
For your info, it's a great 2 disc set with lovely sound in DTS...

Apparently it says DTS ES Discrete 6.1 on the tin but it *isn't* exactly what it says on the tin.
Here's an *interesting* translation courtesy of Babel Fish from the review on Area-DVD if you can follow the strange wording?
"German dd 5,1 ex, DTS IT matrix 6,1) (of English dd 5,1 ex, DTS IT matrix 6,1) the DTS IT 6,1 Discrete tone - in such a way it is on the Cover of the DVD - emerges after examination of the DVD on a Denon AVC-A1SE and a Kenwood KRF-X7775 as DTS IT matrix 6.1-Version. Here the specification, exactly the same as with the recently gecheckten Hannibal, is not correct on the DVD covering. Even if that in it is not, which drauf is: The tonal qualities are very good, if also not reference suspicious. The bass is able to convince, unites it volumes nevertheless with precision. To the joy of owners of high performance Subwoofer the LFE channel looks also several times correctly deep frequencies up home. Being correct playback convinces with naturalness, and the Music Score rings out with very good spatialness over all loudspeakers. Which is however missed, and therefore also no acoustic reference quality can be certified, is a still more differentiated structure of the Surround Klangkulisse. Which comes from the rear, works somewhat monotonous, most effects are relatively simply structured. Also the different explosions ring out with much force, the dissolution could be however finer. This is not in the Dolby digitally EX version also much different. The bass can convince, being correct playback is likewise good also here. Still better one could implement the training of the ambient noise in both English original versions, here, for example with the flight in the spaceship, too little is ordered - the flight noises are practically not audible to hear in both German versions however in realistic form. Since the English versions work altogether more inhomogenously merged, there unfortunately only one point deduction remains."
