Email dts online, at info@dtsonline.co.uk and ask about the plaque, you should get on for £34 direct. The website is american and charge £50 postage alone.
As for Dolby, the ones on the site are only half the size of the originals in the theatres, i have a mate who can get the real things, but it is very costly(£50ish)

THX have started an online store here, no word yet on what accessories they will sell but lets hope for some home THX plaques.

The dolby store have some new ones, a DD one which is 21 by 8.5 inches, and a DD EX which is 15 by 9 inches as opposed to the older home ones which were 12" wide. (The pics on the site have been given the wrong dimensions in the HTML, click close-up view and then save the image to disk to see it properly)
Is that cost due to the number of cinema chain CCTV systems your "mate's" mugshot is on? ;) ;)

    No, he is the manager!;)

Didnt realise Dolby had changed their site, i'll have a look. As for THX plaques, they will never happen! You will have to commision your own.

How do you know? With Lucasfilm selling and Creative buying (and sticking the THX logo on a pc soundcard!), maybe THX will rethink their marketing strategy.

AFAIK no domestic installation is THX certified so it seems daft for THX to create logos for sale to the public, apart from electronics I think a THX rating is pretty overated anyway.

DTS have a UK distributor the last time I looked (3 weeks ago) but I didn't bother to visit the site so I can't be more specific

Obviously I'm talking about THX plaques at home not in a certification sense, but just as a bit of fun. If a consumer has THX certified hardware in his home he should be able to hang a little plaque with a logo on it if he/she wants to.

People don't hang DD or DTS plaques at home to demonstrate to their paying customers what sound format they have paid to see a film in, they do it so they get a little grin before they dim the lights when they watch a movie at home.

These kinds of merchandising are all about advertising a brand, nothing else, and for THX not to sell home THX plaques because home cinemas cannot be certified by the T.A.P. is a gross display of shortsightedness by the THX marketing department. IMHO of course.

I agree with you Sweetmate that THX are shortsighted when it comes to selling plaques for the home but I disagree with you on the other points.......sorry. If you place a DD or DTS logo on your wall yes it's tongue in cheek but it's also accurate if you have the relevant gear but sticking a THX logo on your wall implies you are listening to a THX certified sound which is not true.

Don't get me wrong though, I love my THX Ultra pre + power combo but I'm way short of being a "true" THX experience.

The THX experience is imho no different to a ****-hot non-THX experience. I just love the THX trailers;)

Only by a few bucks, and it is much bigger at 18" by 12" whereas the THX one is 13" by 10.5", and the DTS one does look exactly like the one at my local Warner Cinema, whereas the THX one, erm..., doesnt.

The DTS one is also available form the UK, if you email them, importing the THX one from the US seems to be the only option and will prove costly.

Shame these unofficial ones are so expensive, they look pretty good to me.

I want to get the big Dolby one from
    http://www.dolby.co.uk/dstore/euro_items.html#plaques

Has anyone used the Dolby site to order stuff from before? Is it reliable? Safe etc?

How long does delivery take and is it recorded or not?

Sorry for the barrage of questions but I've never used them before :)

I ordered one of the new (bigger) Dolby plaques on Wednesday and it was delivered the next day by Royal Mail special delivery. So no complaints about their service. It looks very cool on the wall. :)

Can you remember which address you used?
I've e-mailed the people that run the dts shop they asked for my address to work out shipping costs, i'm still waiting to hear back.
