I cannot stream these type of files to my PC or play them back on the PC (due to some form of DRM); so I wondered can I at least copy and play them to/from a USB attached HDD?

    Many Thanks!

Probably not. DTCP is a whole bunch of technologies designed to prevent free movement of content.

Click on google translate to see DiXiM BD Burner 2013 PC software

    Google Translate

    ...and this...

I-O Data introduces a set of external BD and DVD Burner with DTCP-IP Support « Akihabara News

...are these articles saying that you can copy (move out) DTCP-IP files to external devices, PC's, optical discs [and the like]?

Anyone got an interpretation or opinion please?
