Hi all,

I've just purchased my first DSLR - a Nikon D5000 - and am s-l-o-w-l-y getting to grips with it.

It came with 2 lens but I'm looking at a macro version also. Until I know more about both the camera & photography in general I'm keen not to spend hundreds, and wonder if something like this would be a suitable start?

52mm Close Up& Macro Lens for NIKON D3000 D5000 18-55MM | eBay UK

I appreciate that I won't get anywhere near the same quality, but as an introduction?

Thanks.

Yep it will be an introduction.

Also look at extension tubes, reverse mount lenses , bellows and cheap real macro lenses like the cosina 100mmf3.5

Best close up lens to stick on a normal lens is canons 500D

Still not hundreds but granted more than hundred is the sigma 70-300. Not bad at all for macro purposes.
