So it looks like Nintendo will be selling the DS in time for Christmas in the States at a very very nice price .

So two questions - when is it out in the UK ? And is it the usual region problem on this or could I get the stateside version and play UK games ?

I doubt there will be any region issues (language asides) as the device will play GBA games.

The only issue you may have is a charger but usually you can buy UK versions of those, I have a stepdown anyway, time for a new console :)

I just saw the first TV spot for the DS in japan.

It looks nice and the redesigned silver model is the final one we see in the advert.

It should be out in japan this xmas! (hopefully with mario kart and mario 64)

To be hones, I wish thye had made the main screen a bit bigger though.
It looks like they just recycled GBA SP screens to make the DS screen (which in turn are recycled GBA screens!)

I like the fact that I can import one from the States if it's not out in time for Xmas. Course, avoiding import duties could be more than a little tricky.

After being stuck for 2.5 hours on the way home last night due to a bogus "chemical attack" at the train station, I realise that I definitely need a portable game system.

I've pre ordered mine from Lik-sang, price is $149 (at the moment) but then again it was a no money down preorder so if i find it cheaper then i'll just cancel! Don't know which one to get though, US or JAP? The US one is being released before the JAP one which is a bit strange!!

I was gonna buy a US one, but was wondering what the best place to pre-order one was, not really up for customs charges as I would rather just wait for the UK release if I have to pay extra for it.

Anyone ordered hardware off dvdbo before?

I guess there's still no word on a UK release date? (It'll probably be £150 anyway)

I'm definitely looking to get one at launch now, so that probably means a US version. How is Lik-sang for customs charges? Seeing as how DVDSoon is such a great option for R1 DVDs, are there any good Canadian companies for importing this sort of thing?

Man, I wish there was some way to pre-pay customs charges so I don't have to risk Royal Mail "forgetting" to inform me about any charges.

why is it that say $150 gets translated into 150 quid?

It certainly doesnt equal 150 quid. More like half of that. In japan the DS is going to cost 15.000 which is roughly $150, same as the DS cost in the US.

Whats up with the overpricing in the UK?

Most everything is overpriced in this country. I'm not sure why people put up with it... I guess they're just used to it. They (companies and the government) shouldn't dare be surprised that people are choosing to import DVDs/Games/Systems/etc from outside the country. That sounds like capitalism at work to me.
