Im putting up this screen this weekend. It weighs 9kg.

I was just going to use 4 2 inch screws.

But now Im worried that itmay not be enough. Is there a rule of thumb for screws and weight, especially as someone is going to be tugging at it.

Was going to use 2 inch scres, into 1.5 inch raw plugs in 3/4 inch plaster/solid brick. (no studed partition)

Should I go 3 inch, 4 inch even?

2" will probably be ok but I'd go with 3". Better to over engineer.

And to prove that point the fisrst of three holes was drilled into perished mortar!!:(:(:(

My 3 inch rawplug was the only thing that could save me!

One DRH screen safely (ish) installed

    Before or after it collapses?

Sad tho it is, projector doesnt go up till tonight (carpet due today), I amused myself last night getting the nack of the screen retraction. And its pretty neat. You tug it down and let go, and rather than a typical roller blind uncontrolled retraction where the blind is yanked up at such speed it creates a sonic boom, the screen gently rolls back.

I'll post pics once Ive got all the gear connected.

What really impressed me though was the fact that I had to place 2 screws in, 2437mm (7mm greater than spec!!) apart with screws that only just fitted the bracket hole. I most probably had an error margin of 1mm, and managed to get it first time. Even my father in law was impressed!

No one was more surprise than me considering the botch up of the first hole.
