Thanks, Cas. You might be interested to know that many years ago, as this project was being shopped around, Jean Reno was the putative lead. I long for a sequel as well but in box office terms the film underperformed. It looks great and made superb use of the budget it had, even if the chase at the beginning is obviously Souf Efriken, but would have benefitted from having more money (Wouldn't we all?!), suffered audience loss due to its jumping on the 3D bandwagon, Dredd's lack of mainstream recognition and its overall tone being harsh tone for US eyes.

I bought the DVD, or maybe it's the Blu-ray, and also watched it, uncensored (!) on a flight to Dubai. During my viewing I noticed the kid in the seat next to me subtly reclining and angling his head so he could watch along, his parents next to him totally oblivious!

I am also a fan of 2000ad and dredd. I have the 3D blu ray and there is some great tests for a sub, the intro and huge gun battle in the tower stand-out. When I finally make the leap to 4K/atmos this will be definitely on the list.

Totally agree with the review. :smashin:
My copy arrived a week ago (along with the UHD of EX MACHINA...also from Lionsgate) and having the Japanese Steelbook of Dredd which also has the superior single 2D version on a separate disc like the French version. Was very excited to see what the UHD version brought to the table.
And I was not disappointed.
Totally astonishing uptick in fine detail, and the "slow mo" shots are just mind blowing due to the wider colour gamut and HDR.
The Atmos track is also Reference from start to finish. And a nice upgrade over the original which was by no means a slouch in anyway.

If you are a fan of this film it's a must have IMO...
      For me it's a 10/10...

Ordered Life as well posted before weekend fir release on 20th June
It's not out here till July 31st

the 3D print of this is terrible, tempted to get this if the PQ is much better. Main issues with the 3D copy was dreadful compression artifacts and banding which look worse on an OLED than they do on a LED.

How does this look on OLED in 4k anyone?

Was going to watch this over the weekend but with the weather being so nice thought it best to wait until the weather turns and all my neighbours are back inside, will be cranking the volume up for this one.

Cheers for the review @Casimir Harlow , I'm in that boat of only purchased the UK 2D/3D combo and as such have only really watched the 3D version as the 2D was so awful. Have the UHD sitting here waiting to watch and looks as though I made the right decision in a purchase, great price also :smashin:.

EIV haven't jumped on the UHD bandwagon as of yet and I won't hold my breath. You can get the region free for £14 of wowhd.

Pre-ordered this off Amazon.com while drunk on holiday earlier in the year and I just got the dispatch email. Serves me right for not shopping around a bit more and going with wowhd.

Yes, the UHD disc is Region free, the standard blu that comes with it is Region A locked.

No it isn't suitable for a 10-year old, the film is brutally violent and at times quite disturbing.

Anyone else that uses WOWHD had to wait a very long time for the registration email?

Oh and yes Dredd is certainly not child friendly. It's extremely brutal. Reminds me of the kind of action films we got in the 80s in that regard.

You going UHD on us Jim ;). Not watched mine as yet as JW2 was my first priority and how  that was. Looking forward to seeing the change over my UK 2D disc now though. Then a gander at EX Machina that hopefully loses some of that softness of the BD as it's at odds with the films story . Then again I got Lego Barman today and the wife will go for that this evening ( and me  ) as looks fun
