I thought this was quite funny, its a review of Dream Theaters: Metropolis Part 2 Scenes From A Memory, Personaly I love this album, I do not considered it to be the greatest concept album of all time but i do really like it.

I love this guy, seen him doing reviews before. 'Diving for pearls in a sea of effluence' :D! Classic! Even the intro is funny, where he vomits over 'Love Beach'...

They 'thrump'. Great review of a garbage band (IMO of course).

They were a band I felt 'obliged' to listen to because they were the only 'prog' act around at the time. However, I tend to agree with the reviewer, they weren't really prog more heavy metal with 'twiddly bit's, and 'complex' purely for the sake of it. Never bought any of their stuff, glad I didn't.

I bought the Octavarium DVD simply because of the reviews. I admit I bought it because I felt I had to see what all the fuss was about.
I thought it was terrible. Really bad. What was I missing? I mean, this band seem so talented in so many ways. Or so I thought. I sat through it cringing. Not one decent melody, like watching a 'nu metal' band waiting for the next drum flourish or guitar sweep pattern. I was embarrassed to be honest.
Still, they're popular in certain circles.
But as the reviewer says - better than Dark Side or Close to the Edge?

It's bands like this that give 'prog' a bad name.

My brother tried to convert me with three or four of their albums. Out of politeness, and, as I said, because I felt I 'should' like them I gave them all a whirl. The only one I even partly enjoyed was 'Six Degrees of inner turbulence'. The others (Train of Thought, Awake and I can't remember the other one, I 'think' it was 'Images and words') all turned me right off.
