This not often seen film is on Sunday morning at 00.30. It contains 5 short stories wrapped round a train journey. Staring Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee.
It looks like will be screened in WS.:smashin:

But the dvd is 2.35:1,DTS and has a commentary.I would bet the BBC screening will be 1.85:1.However,the UK and international dvd releases do not have the original English end credits,so its loaded into Sky+ just to see what the BBC show

:) you can laugh (and so can i), but the tape goes in a 5 year old panasonic VCR that has never, EVER missed an unattended recording :smashin: . Still a decent recording too - probably down to never having played a video library tape in it.

Same here I taped it on about a 4 year old Panasonic. :smashin:

Funnily last week (before I spotted this film was on) I was looking up some old actors and seeing what they were doing these days and found Neil McCallum (the one who stared in the first short story) had died back in 1976 at the age 46 of a brain hemorrhage. It was a shame I always enjoyed his performances.
I never forget what Dudley Sutton did to him in Department S. :nono:

Suurprised you would even bother watching it let alone tape it when there is a superior (un-cropped, full res) version on DVD.

The image quality on rhe BBC showing was decent enough. And i wasent too fussed in the difference between 2:35 & 1:85 in this case; no grand battle scenes, and/or vast landscape shots.

(taped it to watch at a reasonable time - not to keep it)

wonder when/if they might show 'Torture Garden' - not seen that one for a long time.

forgot about that one - well, probably a few less people in the bar scenes (roy castle story), but i honestly believe that this particular film would be very little more enriched in 2:35 aspect
