First discovered this gem through the Anchor Bay Amicus Coffin. Really fancy picking this up and you're right Chris, the steelbook artwork is amazing :smashin:

Thanks for the great review.

I like the film, but for me it's not the strongest Amicus Portmanteau by far. Tales from the Crypt is the best for me - I feel it has no weak stories, and one or two of the very best.

I think I need to watch all the Amicus anthologies and choose my favourite. Off the top of my head I do like Asylum and From Beyond the Grave.

Love Asylum myself, Robert Powell is particularly good in it.

I watched Tales of the Crypt last night. Did like this a lot and the Peter Cushion story IMO brought out the most feelings in me out of all the stories of the Amicus anthologies. Vault of Horror tonight.

Perhaps it's better to name the stories we like as opposed to the films.

From Dr.T, I think the best bit is the framing story.

From Torture Garden I'm not particularly enamoured with any of it.

From The House That Dripped Blood, I love the first story Method for Murder, with the very creepy Dominic.

Tales from the Crypt, I love them all.

From Asylum I like Frozen Fear and The Weird Tailor.

From Vault of Horror I like Bargain in Death and Drawn & Quartered.

Finally, in From Beyond the Grave I like The Gatecrasher, An Act of Kindness and The Door.

It'd be nice to edit together a 'greatest hits', but of course the framing story wouldn't work.

Same I was thinking there nearly one in each I like.
Dr Terror: Creeping Vine and Disembodied Hand plus wraparound and the very end.

Torture Garden: yes a bit of a clunker especially Mr Steinway. although Terror over Hollywood and The Man Who Collected Poe not bad

Tales from the Crypt: Poetic Justice I do have issues with Wish You Were Here as
its the wife that I see as the problem not the husband, yet hes the one that gets damned.

From Beyond the Grave: The Door and the wraparound story.

The House That Dripped Blood: Sweet to the Sweet

Assylum: The Weird Taylor

Vault of Horror: some cracking ones here especially Drawn & Quartered. Then This Trick'll Kill You and Midnight Mass

The Tales That Witness Madness: I did not like especially the last on that I found a bit sick.

The Uncanny: Again nothing great only commendable thing is Peter Cushing.

I was thinking about this in work today.
If you had to pick just 5 stories to make up your own Amicus film which would they be?

Here's my 5:

Asylum – Frozen Fear

Tales From The Crypt - Poetic Justice

The Vault Of Horror – The Neat Job

The Vault Of Horror - Drawn and Quartered

From Beyond The Grave - The Elemental

With some creative cheating my top 5 would be:

Asylum – Frozen Fear

The Vault Of Horror – The Neat Job

The Vault Of Horror - Drawn and Quartered

Tales That Witness Madness – Mel

Cat’s Eyes - Quitters, Inc.
