My DVD32R is out of order so I'm using a cheap Yamaha player.
I tried Star Wars today, both the Phantom Menace and The Attack of The Clones that are DD 5.1 EX but my DP only says that they are DD 5.1.
On the other hand when I put for instance the LOTR Two Towers special edition the DP recognizes the DD 5.1 EX track as 5.1 EX.
As anyone had the same problem or are the Dolby Digital tracks on Star Wars only DD 5.1 and not DD 5.1 EX?

The problem lies in the lack of the auto EX flag on the disc. Can you not manualy select EX?

Yes, I can manualy select EX but is the DP going to get the information of the EX channel in the audio track or get the EX channel from the two surround (SL + SR) channels? If it gets the info from back channels than I would just be post processing a regular DD 5.1 audio track and not getting the EX channel as intended.

well, as far as I know, the AV32R will pick-up the EX channel if it is on the disc, automaticaly or manually.

I remember this issue being discussed a while back on the "old" forum.

Off for a couple of days now, good luck!

    Hi Mlinhares

The Star Wars disks are not flagged with 'EX', they are falgged as '5.1'.

To select the EX soundtrack you will need to select from the disks audio menu.

    Hope this helps.
