Hi all. I'm looking to downsize my system - Arcam Alpha 8 amp, Marantz CD67SE and Kef Q35 speakers. I'd like to buy a smallish system which would provide the same quality of sound; have seen some Denon systems around the 600 - 700 range, anyone have any thoughts on whether this might be a decent exchange? Grateful for any insights.

The Denons are good systems. My grandad has one, sounds nice. If you replace the bundled speakers with something good, they sound even better (although even the bundled speakers arent *too* shabby).

Also consider the Linn classik, as that seems to come into your budget.

The Denons are great as Paul says, Ive bought 2 for family and replaced the speakers that come with them, to stunning results.

This new DVD-DAB/FM DR300 DAB Reciever from Teac looks interesting to me :

You could pick up a Classik as Paul says, different league to small compact system, you could also keep your eye open for a range from Sony ES called the 3000ES series, very compact separates that punch away above their second hand prices.

How's about the Arcam Solo which as c.£1k but you might get one second hand!
