I am not now able to download utility programmes (or any others) from such sites as FileHippo or CNET but I can download media files with absolutely no problem from a variety of sites as well as watch UTube etc. I get a Windows error message that tells me that due to my security settings it cannot download the file. I do not download programs every day so I am not sure exactly when the problem developed.

Internet Explorer is set Medium High for both privacy & security. This setting has worked fine until recently allowing downloads to take place. I have tried going down one level for each but it makes no difference.

I run Vista32, AVG, Zone Alarm & Spybot. Shutting down Zone Alarm or Spybot makes no difference.

Any ideas how I can get downloading back?

It's part of the security setting in IE. You need to go into
    TOOLS/INTERNET OPTIONS/SECURITY/CUSTOM LEVEL/

    Change your download options.

Thanks for the suggestion but I am not sure of what to change without opening myself to problems.

    I am set for:
Disable auto prompting for file downloads
    Enable file downloads
    Enable font downolads
Several Active X headings that I don't understand!

Any suggestions what I might want to change?

    Chris
