Cinemanow has just added some new HD content to their site, including the shuttle launch...
Wish they'd put some decent films on there... it's a bit hard telling someone how good HD is when only stuff available is the IMAX back catalogue, and even then not any of the good stuff.
Sorting CinemaNow HD by rating, you get #1 "Across America: Models", rated because it's got semi-naked women in it, and #2 "Dolphins".. and that only got 2/5. Everything else is rated 0/5.
Watch some of this last night.
The quality of some of the shots is fanastic (like the shuttle launch itself) but there is a lot CCTV camera footage which looks like, well, CCTV footage!
The Funeral of Pope John Paul II - in hi-def! Not exactly the material to wow punters with - any high speed car chases in that, eh?
How does this work?
ie. Is it a time restricted download, or can you view it at your leisure, and are they available to UK users?
I downloaded / paid for the shuttle launch video but can't play it as I get a promt telling me I need to aquire rights, the link just takes me to where I got the video from, what now ??
You need media player 10, or you have problems with your drm licenses, only way to fix this is reformat your hard drive and do a clean installation of windows, drm lincenses are something that should not be messed wtih...
Yes I have ver 10 but no way am I reformatitng my HDD!
There's an HDNet Discovery Shuttle Launch documentary available for download.
This 22 minute 720p feature uses WMP 9.
It's available from the 'usual' place.
Is this free then, what do you mean the usual place ?! Still would like to get this DRM rights thihg sorted
It is free and is available from the place where all other 'free' HD movies are available. It is against forum rules to discuss exactly where and how to obtain 'free' HD content, so don't even ask.
Don't worry I was not going to ask, 'place' being a collective term for w**** I realize ;-) I initially thought free from the Cinemanow site
This particular shuttle video is available for download completely free and legally from HDNet themselves so no problem with any piracy concerns.
Go to http://onefeed.net/hd/# (link from HD.NET home page)
cheers, wanted to see the shuttle lauch in HD format.
Thanks for the link, looks like I wasted $9.99 then getting the paid for version. What I can't quite understand is even though I am only on a 1mb connection I am downloading at 816kb/s ??!! I have downloaded so far over 400MB of the 1.3GB file in 10 minutes using flash get ?
Opps timed out, what's happening here ?
Well if you resumed the download it's recovering what you downloaded, i was at 8 MB/s..., then it willl drop to you standard speed, but i'm going double my speed now...
No I started right from the beginning - NEW download - and download speed was a constatnt 816k then after about 410MB download died 0.00k now the best I can get is 14k, weird!
Same with speedbit download accelerator, try it you'll see what I mean
Has anyone actually managed to get this to work? I've installed the P2P utility they provide, but keep going round in circles
If I click the "right click/save as link" i just go back to the page to download the utility again, or it downloads an HTM file.
The background download link seems to work ok, but I started that last night and it's done nothing so far...little confused
So, added the link to MyMsn with the link they provide and it does exactly the same thing, either sends me to the page to download the utility or does nothing at all.
Am I missing something here? (very likely)
Yep not very clear, you have to subscribe to one of the places given in step 2 like MyYahoo and then 'add it' the next page will show 2 RSS links to download the shuttle video..
Ok, I've done that..like in MyMsn, I now have 2 links at the top of the page...one is a 'rightclick/download' and the other is a 'background download'
If i right click on the 1st one, it just downloads a file called "2.htm" (which is the utility installation page) if I left click the link it tries to open in Media Player, which won't help, cause I don't think I can save it from there.
The background download link, goes to a page where it asks you to confirm that you want that download method, so I say yes and it does nothing. It says it will take a few hours to start, but been waiting about 16 hours now.
Would really like to see this video, but don't know how
EDIT : nevermind, lol, I just found the save as link in MP10, I'll give that a go
All you need to do is diwnload the peer 2 peer program, then click on the downlaod link, and it will download as a normal download but with the peer 2 peer program running in the background...
They've refunded the $9.99 as I said I could'nt view the video due to the DRM problem. good of them
Wow - stunning. Makes me want to go and see a live launch one day.
How did you find that link on the onenet site ? Or did you go via HD.Net ?
Separate names with a comma.
