    its bytes and bits.

The download @ 800Mbytes will be approx 6400Mbits
With your line maxed out at 8Mbits per second it would take around 20 mins.

In reality your line wont be maxed out and you'll have other handshaking traffic there aswell.

    Hope that helps

The lead wont make it download any faster.

    Heres what I'm guessing.

You have an 8Mb line therefore an 800Mb file should download in 100 seconds.

    Heres the maths

Your line speed is 8 Mbits per second

The file you are downloading is 800Mbytes

There are 8 bits in a byte, therefore your file is 6400Mbits (800 X 8)

so if you line was running flat out, with no other data going up or down, it would take 800 seconds, or about 13 minutes.

But your line will be doing other stuff as well as downloading the file, and its unlikely that your line will be running at anywhere near full speed, hence the longer wait for the download.

always take it to consideration of other users using the line

remember there is a 50:1 ratio on the line so if everybody is downloading

    prepare for slow connection:thumbsdow
