    Hi.

I'm thinking on buying a DVD player to replace my very old Cyberhome.

    I'd like it to:
    -read Divx and be able to be upgraded;
-read all types of DVD (+/- R/RW)
-SACD would be nice, but it's not a must have
    -good picture abd sound quality

    I found 3 from Philips + 1 from Sony & Toshiba ranging from 79 to 112 euros:
    DVP3010 (79 EUR)
    DVP720SA (106 EUR)
    DVP5500 (112 EUR)
    Sony DVP NS52 (91 EUR)
    Toshiba SD245 (80 EUR)

    What's your opinion on these?
The Sony one states that it can read DVD Double Layer. The others can't?
Are they all easily upgraded? And what about region hacked?
Are there better DVD players in the market in the same price range?

Sorry for the long list of questions but I'm really not into what's in the market.

    Thanks for the help.

The Pioneer 575 seems to be a very popular choice amongst the forum members. Multi format playback including SACD & DVD-A. If you do a quick search, you'll find a good handful of threads on this player.

My brother had 2 Cyberhome players.

He bought a Pioneer 575 and couldn't believe the improvement in picture quality.

And it plays everything I've tried on it...PJ

    Hi.

Thanks for the tip, but unfortunately I cannot find that DVD in local stores neither in the usual web sites I use (and that have reliable deliveries to Portugal).
There's also one thing: I believe this player cannot play +R/RW discs, right?

    Thanks
