I've recently got a wattson home energy monitor and it's quite surprising how much the amount of electricity used by my 42PZ70 varies depending on what is displayed on the screen. A black (no signal) screen takes around 140watts, flick to the SKY planner which is a high-ish contrast full blue screen see's it go up to 350+. White is obviously the worst pushing 400+watts.

So the moral here is don't be watching all those lovely snow scenes on the news at the moment - it will cost you more :D

Picture quality is of course lovely though, and well worth it IMO.

I'd love to be watching lovely snowy pictures on my TV but i HAD to make go to work. Leaving my wife and kids at home making snowmen and snowball fighting.
