Hi, I'm upgrading my old HDTV to a modern one in time for the PS5. In the end I went with the 55" Q90t as the best all rounder. However I'm getting that usual FOMO fear that maybe I should have paid the extra £300 for the LG CX OLED. Even though picture quality seems neck and neck, which is why I couldn't justify the extras £300, I'm worried about the lack of Dolby Vision...

I'll be honest I don't really understand HDR and how the formats are compatible with each other (what happens if you play a Dolby Vision disc on a Samsung TV for example)? Do you still get HDR? But the other thing that confuses me is what if I get an AV Receiver that supports Dolby Vision? Would the Receiver use the information and send something different to the TV or would it still not work because the TV doesn't support it?

I'm worried if Dolby Vision takes off will I be left with the TV equivalent of an HD-DVD player? Any other Samsung owners worried about this?

You get HDR 10.

If the tv can’t do Dolby Vision it will be HDR 10 or HDR 10+ where applicable. It makes no difference if your receiver does Dolby Vision or not. Just to add if the receiver doesn’t do HDR 10+ you won’t get that through the tv unless your blu -ray player is set up using the two HDMI on the back of the player.

This thread helps a lot! I have been thinking the same question too!

I cancelled my order, decided I would regret not getting an OLED. Waiting for the LG CX to come down a bit more. I've owned a couple of plasmas back in the day so I know how to watch out for screen burn...
