A simple question (from a simple guy!).

Does the Pioneer DV-575 have a Dolby Pro Logic 2 decoder for 2 channel material or just Pro-Logic/None?

Help would be greatly appreciated as this would likely swing it one way or the other for me....

    Thanks in advance.

Well I've just looked at a few sites that sell the Pioneer DV-575 and on none of the ones I checked did I see any mention of Dolby Pro Logic (1 or 2). Also there are no DPL badges (only DD & DTS) on the front of the player which to me also indicates that it does not decode DPL.

The PIONEER does not have pro-logic2.
I'm not aware of any machine with this feature - although some bright spark is bound to prove me wrong!
If its only two channel material your amp can decode it to 3 front channels and 1 mono rear (pro-logic).

I'm pretty sure the cheapest player with a pro logic 2 decoder is the Arcam DV79 @ £1000

    Got it in one!!!!

I can live with DPL on my old amp but it would have been nice to have DPL2 decoder on board (as well as DD) so I didn't have to ugrade for a while.

BTW - There was also a £50 Compacks model which had DPL2 decoding but the player was (IMHO) awful.

I have much, much more DD 2.0 (Surround) material which would benefit from DPL2 than I will ever have of DVD-A or SACD. It has swung it for me - deffo either the 470 or 370 for me....

Thanks very much indeed for you help with this.

    Cheers
