Dolby Headphones on a headphone amp?

Is it possible to connect a headphone amp like the Musical Fidelity X-CAN V3 to the Denon A11XV amp and still have access to the Dolby Headphone feature?

AFAIK the headphone amp connects via RCA plugs to the line out of the amp - and then the amp would not know a headphone was connected hence no dolby headphone support.

Is there any way to connect the headphone amp to the headphone out socket?

I have the exact same set up (AVC-11XVA) and MF X-CANv3, and I do not think it is at all possible to do what you suggest. I'd be happy to be proved wrong though!!!

Even listening to pure stereo with the X-CAN (into Grado Sr-325is) is far better than listening to Dolby Headphone from the A11.

I don't the think headphone out the Denon is very good at all TBH, although the surround effects can be quite convincing.

My issue is with DVD movies. Late at night I do not want to wake my daughter, and listening to a movie DVD in stereo is no match to the dolby headphone surround mode.
