G'day from OZ, I recently read (somewhere?) that when a Dolby EX movie soundtrack is transferred to DVD, the EX encoding is included, even though it may not be indicated on the packaging or even flagged on the disc. Can anybody shed some light on this?

Yup its a pretty safe bet that the EX or ES channel is intact on the dvd release of an EX film.

The reason some dvds dont have dolby ex flag is because some early ex capeable av amps had problems with the dolby ex flag so the studios stopped putting it on there dvds until dolby could find a solution to the problem.
