Dolby digital problem

    I have just purchased anew philips dvdr880.My problem is output via coax cable.Analogue output is fine however when i try to output via coax socket dvd or cd evey time anything in the house
    (electrical is switched on or mainly off the sound output fails for about 1 second. ihave purchased new 75 ohm coax, plus surge protected extension no improvement .PLEASE does anyone have
    a clue why,any help would be greatly appreciated.

    All I can think of is to check the wall socket it's plugged in to. Loose connections, stray earth wire, that kind of thing.

    What are you out putting to?

    The interference is more likely to be picked up by an amp than a DVD player.

    Is it a TV or separate HiFi system?
