Can somebody explain to me how DD ex is going to work with DD 5.1. My decoder is just a 5.1 and obviously I want the best possibel sound when The Phantom Menace comes out, will I be compromised at all for sound or will the processor deal with the signal as it would a normal 5.1 soundtrack.

Does anyone else feel frustrated. Would it not be better if the film distributors making sure that they had the best possible 5.1 and DTS mixes on them before giving us the consumer another piece of kit to buy !

    Any thought welcome.

Ex/Es material will be compatible with 5.1, however only with an appropiate amplifier (or more specific the decoder) you will be able to extract the 6th channel and listen to it in Ex mode.

So no worries, even on 5.1 only systems nothing will get lost as the Ex channel is encoded in the rear L&R.
