The Dolby Digital confusion that HCC have in the news on this site News item is confusion only by the author.

Only the Sky+ box will receive and play out in Dolby Digital. All other boxes, including the Sony with the digital sound out, will only play out the stereo sound, which can be used to get a ProLogic sound.

There are no compatability issues with other boxes, as there is no compatability.

At the moment you need a Sky+ box to get Dolby Digital from Sky.

Yeah it did seem the assumption was being made that all SKY digiboxes could output DD 5.1 with or without an optical port.
Just another example of poor customer information being given out in dribs and drabs by SKY?
