    Hi All,
Can anyone tell me how I can receive Dolby 5.1 output from a satelite decoder without having to get Sky's SKY+ service. I don't particulary want TIVO, nor do I want to give an extra £10 over a month in subscription charges.
Is their any other sat top boxes that provide 5.1?

    Thanks

There is meant to be a Sony settop box out that has a digital output, but I've yet to hear from anyone if this works for DD5.1 transmissions.

If it doesn't then the only option is to get a Sky+ box.
Even better option (IMHO) is to rent out the movies, that your not sure about buying, from Blockbuster on DVD :)

There is no way that you can get DD5.1 from sky without getting a sky+ box. The sony digibox does have an optical output but does not have the option in the software to select the DD5.1 audio stream.

You can purchase the sky+ box without paying the £10pm sub increase.
