Excellent documentary, just recieved this from Play yesterday and it bought all the memories back - Alva/Jay Adams/all the cool photos from that period/good soundtrack as well, can definetly see why it has won all the awards = Sundance/etc and there is a nice little trailer for `XXX` hidden away in the menu, must go dig that longboard out :D

Watched this last night and would just like to say this is one of the best films I've seen in a long time.

From Sean Penn's excellent narration to the soundtrack which is perfectly cut together with footage and images, This is a story which is entertaining, insightful, funny and sometimes touching.

Even if you have little interest in skateboarding most people will be able to relate to the story of having something personal taken over by commercialism and the effect it has on individuals.

    Highly recommended.

dogtown and the z boys is indeed a superb docu. i especially liked the bit showing them surfing by the old mangled pier absolutely painful to watch as you are sure you are going to see someone impaled on twisted metal.
Scratch is really good too even if you have no interest in hip hop at all.

    Scratch -

Try Hoop Dreams - great docu with a real emotional heart to it, you get really involved in the lives of two young boys trying to make it to the NBA....amazing film.
