I had a Field Spaniel insured with Marks and Spencer. In all they paid out well over £10,000 for our futile attempts to find a way of controlling his very serious epilepsy. They never once queried a bill. I've now got my Cocker Spaniel insured with them.

I recommend M&S because of the excellent cover they give on the top tier insurance.

I just went with pet plan ultimate I think. I haven't had to use them so I can't say whether they are any good.

friend at work has two dogs who are his babies and he recommended pet plan for me so thats who im with. Havent had to claim via them but he has many times and said their service was fantastic.

Would certainly recommend getting some insurance though, I didnt and it cost my about £2K in vet bills for my pooch which certainly hurt the wallet......worth it though :)

Last year I paid out £7.40 per month from Tesco for my Jack Russell who was coming up to 1 year old. The renewal has just come back and is now over £9 per month. I could get it elsewhere for £8 but not quite the same cover. A £20 in Tesco clubcard points made me stick with Tesco.

My nearly 9 year old Bassett is currently £28 a month. She has had thousands in Vet bills when she was only a couple of years old for bad hip and knee joints.
