OK, I'm a cat person, though my girlfriends dog is awesome.

However, it has problems that we have been trying and trying to sort.

After weeks of being woken up by barking at the crack of dawn because:

    a) the post has come
    b) a neighbors dog is outside
    c) the dog knocks something over and has to bark at it
    d) there is a fly in the house (this has honestly happened!)

    You get the idea.

How do you train a dog not to bark at flys?

    open to suggestions! :D

The anti-bark collars are very good imho, the one that squirts the lemon stuff when they bark.

I bought one for my chocolate lab when he was about a year odl as he never shut up. Only left it on him for about a week and he got the message.

Now just the mention of "the collar" makes his shut up and curl up on the sofa and in extreme circumstances we will show it to him, it has never been back on him since.

We used one that emitted a high frequency sound a while back. It did the trick so I guess they work...

Another alternative is to visit your local driving range, order a basket of balls, empty said balls, apply some leather straps (available from most reputable haberdashery shops), and tie snugly around the ears......et voila.....no more barking

To be doubly sure of silence you could leave the balls in the basket - titleist pro v1s are the best at averting muffled barking noises :smashin:
