    Hi all,
Now I've shelved plans to get the H77 I'm going to get either the Panny AE700 , Sanyo Z3 or Sony HS50 (space allowing!). I know what the AE700 is like cos I've already had one (long story), I haven't heard any reports of the Z3 and how it compares to the AE700, the problem is that the Z3 will probably suit me better as the lens shift is better (the lens shift on the AE700 won't shift the picture down to the bottom of my screen so I have to raise the screen a bit which makes the image a little higher than I'd like). Does anyone have any idea whether the picture on the Z3 is at all comparable with the AE700 or does the AE700s smoothscreen and dynamic iris give it a significant advantage? I know it's impossible to know without seeing them both so I'm hoping at least somebody has done that...
As for the HS50, I just wish it wasn't as deep as it is cos I don't think I've got room for it, problem is I'll only know if I have or not if I buy one I suppose....

    Cheers,
    Andy.

    Hi Andy.

I'm looking to buy a new projector, and was looking at the same PJs. Found this over on Projector Central :)

I'm going a little insane trying to decide :rotfl: I feel that it's a choice between a Panny 700 or spend a little less and get an Hitachi TX100. Decisions, decisions  ;)

Please let us know what you end up with :)

    All the best,

    Mark

I have been looking at the Panny 700 and the Sanyo Z3 myself lately and had the chance to make and A/B comparison yesterday. I went in with a mission to verify that the 700 was a clear winner but went out believing that the Z3 was better.

I have a Panny 500 which I am retireing to one of the two mentioned pj's.

In a direct comparison the image on the Z3 was way more naturel, flesh tones didn't look quite right on the 700. There was also a lot less VB in the Z3 (barely noticeable) even though the 700 already has a lot less then my 500. Further more the lens shift was a lot better and a lot more precise on the Z3.

Also the Z3 image seemed a bit more clean.

They were both very good pj's but the Z3 was a clear winner in my opinion.

Both pj's was connected to a Onkyo DVD over component sending a 480i signal (i believe).

    Regards
    Thomas

Thats why i have also shelved my plans to get a H77 at the moment, when i heard rumours of the HS50 and at £1.8k below the price of a H77.

lol, £2k exactly. Just had a lot of expense lately , had to get my wife a car for her new job , Florida holiday to pay for next year, just figured it was time to restrain myself for a change! I can live with an AE700/Z3 until next year or the year after, no doubt by then there'll be products better than the H77 for less money anyway...
Thomas, that's interesting re the Sanyo Z3 will find out for myself tomorrow cos I've gone for that myself, the AE700 lens shift isn't enough for my requirements and the Sony HS50 will be too deep I think.. the Z3 seems to have everything I need as a stop gap projector...

    Cheers,
    Andy.

3 words... 'No lens shift' also not high enough resolution for hidef stuff.

    Cheers,
    Andy.

There's too much good sub £2k product now and on the horizon. Makes the H77 not that attractive an option for the increment in money.

For me it was a couple of months ago, but now i'd sort of agree.

That was another reason for me, what with a cellar conversion to pay for (still home cinema expenditure though ;) ) and a wedding next year to pay for, which the fiance sees as a higher priority than hc  :D
