So, we are planning to have upstairs renovated in the next couple of months (currently awaiting written quotes). As part of this I have had the green light to have installed a couple of in-ceiling speakers for Atmos duties in the lounge.

Access for the installation should be easy enough because the builders can lift the floor above the lounge before carpets are fitted down the line.

The equipment I am thinking of using is:

Speaker:
Monitor Audio C265-IDC In Ceiling Speaker (Single) - In Ceiling Speakers - AV Online - UK Home Cinema and Hifi Specialists

Cable:
Fisual S-Flex Studio Grade White Speaker Cable 2 x 2.5mm - Speaker Cables - AV Online - UK Home Cinema and Hifi Specialists

Fire hood:
Hoody 2 Large Fire & Acoustic Speaker Hood - Speaker Hoods - AV Online - UK Home Cinema and Hifi Specialists

Re:Speaker - is there anything better or similar for the same or less money? Will they work with my setup in my signature, particularly the Amp?

Re:Cable - the run is approximately 20m. Should it be a thicker gauge? Ideally I would prefer a clear/colourless cable where the copper is visible.

Re:Fire hood - is that the right size for those speakers?

In addition, I live in a 70s built house. How can I tell if there is enough depth between the ceiling and upstairs floor without having to take up floor boards? Equally, we have warm air heating. I don’t think there is any ducting in the way but any other strategy to find out?

Thanks for any help in advance.

I have further investigated the void between ceiling and upstairs floor and it should be fine, looks to be about a Foot. Ducting also looks like a non-issue.

So that just leaves the equipment side of things. Any thoughts?
