Firstly, apologies for posting a proper Newbie question

I am in the market for a TV and Surround sound system with Amp, I've settled on this TV...

    LG 55LM620T Televisions - 55

...but can't for the life of me work out if it has a Audio out sutiable for adding and Amp?

    Thanks in advance
    Kevin

It has an optical out from the link you put in so a suitable AV with optical inputs would suffice. Most TV's support ARC and suitable AV amp again should do which would be a single HDMI connection to the TV.

It has an optical S/PDIF output that would be suitable for connection to an AV receiver.

The LG TV claims to have a FULL SCART connector, if that is true, then it should have analog Audio Out on that connector.

However, if you have a AV Receiver, it will surely have a spare Optical or Coaxial input. Your TV and virtually every other TV has a Digital Optical/Coaxial Audio Output on it. That can be used to get the TV sound back to the AV sound system.

However for watching movies, the sound goes directly from the video player to the AV amp. Most amps then have an HDMI OUT connector to relay the video signal to the TV.

So to get TV sound to the amp, you have to have some kind of Audio Out on the TV. This TV certainly has a Digital Audio Out, and perhaps an analog Audio Out, either will be compatible with a vast majority of AV Receivers out there.

For movie sound, that comes directly from the Movie Player via HDMI.

The very low cost AV Surround system you suggested has 4 HDMI input, 1 HDMI output, 1 Optical Audio IN, and 1 Coaxial Audio IN.

That is a very limited system in terms of price and power, however, if it fits your budget, it should do a good job. I is however, strictly an Audio System, you would still need a DVD/BluRay Player.
