Does the RX-V357 do upscaling

Hi guys i have a question i hope someone can answer, i have the Yamaha AV57 which uses the RX-V357 receiver, i know it supports 720p and 1080i via the component connections but is this for HD only or can it upscale dvd to 720p 1080i if so does anyone know how good the quality is compared to upsaling players, i ask because i have a progressive dvd player and was looking on getting an upscaler as i dont have a way to play HD back when it arrives due to my Hdtv only having component and no funds to upgrade yet, anway upscailing seems a a good mid ground between progressive and HD and if the Yamaha can upscale it would save me some cash. thanks for any info :)

Hi Darth-T.

I am not aware of the RX-V357 being able to "upscale" anything video-wise. Whilst it might be capable of passing through video already upscaled by some other box, I am not aware of it having any upscaling ability in itself.

Others will no doubt correct me, if wrong.

You are correct. The Yamaha will only pass thru.
video to video
component to component
