Just wondering I have my PS3 connected via component cable to my lcd rather than using HDMI

Just wondering if the PS3 does indeed upscale DVD's when using the component cable

Withing the settings screen a message appears suggesting I think that it does not but just looking for clarification

The reason I ask is I want to connect to an older plasma with no HDMI therefore the component cable gives me almost HDMI quality, and my best connection option

Yeah it's against the DVD Forum regulations. Only a handful of hacked/modded players will upscale DVDs via component.

There are several threads already dealing with upscaling which a search would have found. Please try to do a search before starting a new thread. As the question has been answered I'm closing this thread.
