Does the dock connector prevent the iphone going to sleep?

Hi,
Pretty annoyed at the wi-fi going down after some time the phone is in sleep mode. When listening to radio stations e.g. I have to wake up the phone and wait until it picks up wi-fi again.
This is not very convenient, especially if you connect the phone to the hi-fi.
I was wondering if using a dock station could help. does somebody knows if the phone goes to sleep when connected to the dock station?
I am about to buy the official dock station which comes with a remote, but I rather save my money if the thinghy cannot save my day.

Are you jailbroken?
If so you could use insomnia on cydia which keeps the wifi signal enabled while the phone is 'sleeping'.

Dont work for me, classic fm always going off at nights, no matter where the auto-lock is et to..
