Sorry to ask so many questions, but I have just thought of something else.

One thing I am going to miss about my Samsung 709 is its ability to output NTSC signals in PAL50.. Such that you can record it on a PAL VCR.

There are very few models on the market which will do this, but I wonder if the Arcam will?

Does anyone know if you can set the DV88 up for PAL50 output?

You can, but I really hope it's been improved since the original software version - it was unwatchable.

    Cheers,

    In what way unwatchable?

My Samsung provides 50hz PAL, buy dropping every 6th frame.

This is almost un-noticable.. But when you get smooth panning, you can see it jump a frame ever so often...

But atleast you could video the output.

However, I have just realised that you can't disable Macrovision on the DV88, so this is irrelevant anyway!!

I don't remember *exactly* what the symptoms were, but I think it had continuously stuttering video and sound. I think it would also freeze up. It wasn't a fairly bad picture, it wasn't a very bad picture - it was unwatchable.

Like I say, though, this was one of the first batches of players (I borrowed it for the weekend from my local Sevenoaks when they first arrived). It may be better now.

    Cheers,
    Liam
