I have an Aphrodite with Calliope speakers and now I have the chance to buy a pair of Calliope bass modules.

My problem is that I think the Aphrodite doesn't have enough power for the bass modules. Could anyone shed some light?

    Hi mlinhares,

there is an answer from Udo himself about this toppic.
He also thinks you are better off with extra amplification using the bass modules with the Aphrodite.

See link to thread from Udo: link

    Cheers

    Thanks.

Conclusion: stay with Aphrodite and Calliope or buy the bass modules and buy amps.

Hi, in order to prevent any potential misinterpretation, I like to repeat what I once said:
    1) you can use Aphrodite + Calliope + Calliope Bass Modules (in actual fact I do!)
    2) You can run Calliope + Calliope Bass Modules louder with an external amplifier.

Aphrodite offers approx 60W, Calliope + Bass Modules can handle almost 10 times of that, but that only means twice as loud.

Acoustically Calliope + Bass Modules (even if used with Aphrodite only) are a significant improvement because the Calliope Bookshelf speakers do not longer have to deliver low frequencies, hence their sound becomes purer and they can go louder. The Bass Modules then offer a significant extension to lower frequencies.

I hope this clarifies matters better, if not, please feel free to ask for additional information.

    Regards
    Udo

    sorry if unnecessary,
i'd just add one simple comment

if you are not playing them too loud it aphrodite is more than enough to drive calliopes with bass modules. if driven too hard, at certain point it will sound better and be better protected with (decent) external amp. not more and not less

I won't drive them too loud because it's for a second system in a bedroom. If I can improve it would be great. Thanks for the input.
