Reading this thread reminded me of the short lived tab clear from coke-cola.

Just trying to remember the can of drink I used to drink as a boy. Must've been early 80's and I remember the drink can being 13p and the cans base was made up of round ridges.

At the time it was the cheapest thing available, even cheaper than the Happy Shopper orange cans!

Can's of the lager Asashi, a Japanese lager - it had a ring pull that you pulled and spiralled out to remove the entire top. A offie up the road from me does bottles but don't think I have seen it anywhere else, it's lovely.

Most Tesco stores I've been in, sell the bottles. A very nice lager when properly chilled.

Japanese make very good beer I have to say. Asahi is decent , saporro is better , kirin is better still and kirin ichiban is terrific.

Used to be the same with Sapporo. You pulled the entire top off and were left with a metal can in the shape of a glass.

    Brilliant. Alas gone now....

And while we're on the subject anyone remember Castlemaine XXXX export 5% stuff? it was only here for a short while about 20yrs ago, lovely stuff. I think the normal XXXX has been withdrawn from the UK now, probably the same applies to Labatts
