    Hi, just repeating a question from my other topic.

    If a DVD player is DTS, and puts out separate Phono's for all channels, cant you just connect these to an AMP and get DTS?

    IM not interested in other surround modes etc, I just want a multichannel setup that plays pure DTS.

    And Whats AC-3?

    If I dont need a new DTS amp, I want to find a sceond hand last years top of the range.

    what do you think?

    if your player actually decodes it and puts out 6 separate channels and your amp accepts 6ch input then no, the amp doesn't need to be a DTS decoder.

    AC-3 is the 'technical' name for dolby digital

    You can go that route of connecting your DVD player to your amp via 6 phonos and get DTS sound, but you will find the sound quality significantly better if you have a proper DTS capable amp and connect the DVD player to it via optical/coaxial connection.

    I think AC-3 refers to Dolby Digital??

    Also DTS has been out for ages now, I am sure you will find a 'second hand last years' top of the range amp with DTS.

    I started at with my DVD player connected to the amp by 6 phonos, then tried with the optical connection and was amazed at the quality increase.

    yeah thats what i'd recommend but it is certainly an option with the 6ch output/input

    AC3 = Audio Compression 3 (Dolby Digital's 3rd generation of audio compression)

    Fanstastic stuff Guys! Excellent response time!

    Thanks very much.

    I think I might just get me a Decent Denon AMP then. Or I might go for seprate processor and power Amps, the speakers I have arent exactly easy to drive (mission 753's).
