Does a US PS3 connect to US servers, or is it PSN account dependant?

I have a colleague in Turkey who has decided to buy a PS3, but because they are expensive there, he is going to pick one up in Canada whilst he is away on business.

With this in mind, will his PS3 always be seen as a 'US' model and therefore connect to 'US' servers? Or is it all dependant on the country that the PSN account was created?

Are there any other concerns (other than multi-region support and power) about buying a US machine and using it in Europe?

The server you connect to depends on where your PSN account is!

BUT, there are some issues, Blu Rays are region locked...i.e. they would not be able to play European Blu Rays. Only US and Region Free ones!!!

I believe games are region free also!
