Does a retentions reduction on monthly cost result in a new contract?

Back in April I called retentions because I was upset at the loss of Sky One and they gave me a reduction in my monthly cost. I was told only that this reduction would remain in place until I changed anything.

I'm now planning on moving to SkyHD as I'm upgrading my screen. Will VirginMedia have started a new 12 month contract from when I had a reduction in payments? Will they hold me to the full twelve months at the reduced rate?

I've also got broadband with them which I fully intend to keep. I just want to cancel the TV with them. I don't have my phone with them.

I expect that I'm bound to them for 12 months which is a pain. :(

Hi, Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but generally the discount is offered as a sweetener to tie you in for 12 months.
But theres nothing to stop you argueing that they never told you this at the time
    Its worth a try
