    Hey,

Just got a Pioneer DV350 Multi Region player from Amazon.co.uk

It's hooked up using an S-Video cable to my NTSC compatible TV.

Now I have a problem when playing region 1 dvd's. There is a blue line at the top of the screen which although not large, is rather distracting.

When I put in a region 2 dvd this line dissapears but reappears whenever I play a region 1 dvd. Any idea why this is happening?

Has the multi region chipping been done wrong?

I also hooked up the player with a SCART lead but it still had the same blue line.

    Regards,
    Chris

    Try outputting via RGB.

It could be a problem with your TV rather than the player. It could be that the geometry for NTSC on your TV is a little "off" and needs shifting upwards slightly.

tried it with RGB, no luck....still get the blue line.

I can't move the geometry of the screen on my TV, I had thought about doing that but I just cant.

I've sent an email to Amazon but they have yet to reply, it's quite annoying as it only happens on region 1 discs so something is obviously not right with the chipping.

No not necessarily. If you search other threads, you will find similar reports of this "blue line" problem with NTSC and it's been the TV at fault in all cases. Get a service engineer out for your TV - he'll be able to go into the service menu and adjust the geometry (it's not accessible via the normal menus). If you feel brave enough, adjust the geometry yourself. Do a search for your TV on the forum and you'll find the service code you need to enter into the remote - but be very very careful as you could screw your TV up if you don't know what you're doing!

I would also try another player with NTSC. If the blue line goes then it might be an incompatibility between your player and the TV, but my money's on my first solution rather than an incompatibility issue ;)

My TV is a Panasonic TX-29AD70DP and is a few years old now, had a look on these forums and on the internet, couldn't find any codes...

Would a code from a newer panasonic tv work on this tv do you think?

If I phoned panasonic would they tell me the code?

It might do yes. Often they keep the codes the same.

Probably not but it can't hurt to try.
