Dodgy eyes with a rift ?

I've bitten the bullet on the Rift promotion, and sprung for a 1080ti as well (Don't tell the Mrs !).

Has anyone any recommendations for prescription inserts you can get from WidmoVr, LensLab or vr-lens , or anywhere else ?

Well I need glasses for reading and close up work, but both with the rift and the PSVR it seems that I do not need any glasses at all.

That was a bit of a surprise for me - albeit a pleasant one.

I got mine from Lens-Lab and they have been fine for me. Got them when it was the kick starter days and they still turned up pretty quickly. I had the early versions, without the extra insert, which where still fine but they sent the insert out free of charge.

I needed them for long distance and since having them its sharpened everything up. Also, I had the blue tint which supposed to help protect your eyes.

Lucky you ! Unfortunately for me it's distance that's the problem, although judging from the prescription range available, I'm not as bad as I thought.

Interesting, I had more or less discounted their standard (non Rab) lenses, but maybe they're worth a go !

I was wondering about this. I am in the same boat as you, For close up work like reading or model building I need my glasses but for anything else I am fine. Hope I can get away with no glasses when I Rift arrives.

If it's only close up and reading, you should be fine. I'm in the same boat and fully expected things to be a blurry mess. Couldn't be more wrong. It's as pin-sharp as the resolution will allow. Well pleased with mine :)

i cant see squat in my rift without my contacts in... and my glasses are too big to fit in.

mind you i am a bit of a mr magoo - -3.5 and -3.75

i just use contacts when i want to vr

I must admit i am a bit salty on this... When i ordered my rift, oculus promised they would supply 2 inserts the standard one and one made to take glasses.... they renegue on it and didnt send the glasses one.

I have the inserts from lenslab and vr-lens for my Vive. I would easily recommend the vr-lens ones over the lenslab inserts (for a Vive at least).

However...today I'd say go for the VR frames from lenslab. They're basically elasticated lens frames which should be a lot less hassle than the inserts.

Thanks for that, I hadn't even seen those frames !

Having recently picked up the rift in the summer sale I am having issues with blurred text. I need glasses for viewing things at a distance I only really wear them when at the cinema. I tried wearing my glasses with the headset they fit just but didn't seem to make a huge amount of difference. Spent some time the other day making sure I was wearing the headset correct and making minor adjustments but text just doesn't ever look that crisp. Been looking at some sort of built in frames or those ones from vr lens labs anyone know if it would make a difference.
The other thing I have considered as i only have a 970 if a better gfx card with ss etc enabled would be the better solution.

I ended up ordering these VR Frames - Glasses for Virtual Reality Headsets
Will update when I get them, and the rift, which is taking an eternity from Overclockers.
