I bid last minute on what was supposed (from the description) to be a 3805 on ebay, however on closer inspection of the somewhat fuzzy picture I reckon it's an earlier model.

Are there any variations in case design of the 3805? I'll go to the vendor and inspect it personally, but it'd be good to save the trip if it's not legit.

Have a look, looks like a 3803 to me...

Hope I'm not chiming in too late but it's most likely a 3802 as Jase says. The 3801 and 3802 look very similar with the only cosmetic differences being the 3802 handles PLII so the Dolby badge is different and the LEDs next to the LCD panel are different too.

Have a look at the two rows of LEDs next to the LCD display on the 3801 here and the 3802 here. See how the 3801 has three LEDs on the top row (Lock, Dolby, DTS) while the 3802 has only two (Dolby, DTS) with a blank, black area where the left-most one is one the 3801? If you look at the big picture on eBay, it looks like the clear black area can be seen on the top row of the LEDs too suggesting it is a 3802.

It's not a 3803 (picture here) because the row of buttons along the bottom is a solid line of 9 buttons on the 3801 and 3802 while on the 3803 the third button is "missing" if you like, i.e. they streamlined the input selection to just the buttons on the right hand side and put the speaker selection on the left two buttons.

Hope you get it sorted okay!

    Cheers,

    Colin

I spoke to the owner (the seller is an intermediary) and it is a 3802 - anyway it was an honest mistake, sorted now.

Shame, I thought for a second I'd scored a massive bargain...
