    An extension tube will reduce the minimum focus distance of a lens which can be handy for macro work.

    I use them, and while they're obviously not as good as having a macro lens, they are a fairly handy alternative although the image quality is reduced from what the lens would produce without it.

    I find that Live View is a god send when using them as it really helps to get the focus spot on.

    A few shots I've taken with mine here.

    HTH.

    I have a set I bought purely because they were a bargain and I couldn't refuse them. (on Ebay with a 50mm AF f1.7 lens for £25 .. the tubes themselves are worth double that). Anyway, apart from one shot I havent played with them much because I use my Macro lens but here is the picture.

    The interesting thing is it was taken using the tubes and a 300mm f4.5 prime lens.

    Quite pleased with it actually.

    Hello there

    I have been reading a bird photography book, and they suggest sometimes to use extension tubes on long primes, 400mm, 500mm, 600mm.

    Never tried it myself.

    Cheers Holo:smashin::smashin:
