I remember as a child visiting gran in the Cotswolds and she'd take me along to the beautiful Painswick church famous for its Yew trees as she was part of the change ringing campanologists who'd ring out to the village. Possibly not the kind of thing I'd do now but it was quite an unusual hobby.

There must be groups of enthusiasts or individuals up and down the country doing something a bit different, so is there anything a bit unusual you do?

Not that unusual but I juggle and can ride a unicycle. Have balls, clubs, hoops and fireclubs. Fireclubs dont come out much any more though :)

Very nice - I fly RC Fixed and Rotary Wing.

Not quite that big though - my largest fixed wing is Pete Tindal Spin Doctor (a CAP 222 look alike) with a 62" span and 72 engine. Your Yak looks a fair bit bigger - what span and engine?

My biggest heli is a 50 sized IC Thunder Tiger Raptor.

    Cheers,

    Nigel

My boss used to play underwater hockey which is a somewhat unusual sport. Did mean she was able to represent GB in the world championships though.

I like thrashing motorbikes around race tracks.
Not so unusual though, thousands of others do it too.
Maybe slightly unusual for a 47 year old though.
Which just makes it all the more fun when a young'un can't keep up.

I enjoy shooting. Always have. Would go to the pistol range from time to time. You get strange looks from folks when its brought up.

Especially when I live in Northern Ireland. Gun laws aren't as strict as mainland UK

Didn't think this was unusual to be honest, do a lot of shooting out here in the sticks range and clay. I would say 20% of my circle have tried it or regularly do it.

Where I am from in Northern Ireland it is unusual to use guns for recreational purposes. The only time you hear off guns being uaed is when someone is shot or shot at.

So when you mentioned that you where away shooting people tend to raise an eyebrow.
