Today I received a copy of 'Resurrection' Collector's Edition R1 (the horror movie with Christopher Lambert - please no spoilers, I haven't seen it yet!).

When I opened up the DVD case I found a DVD-5 inside but get this - there is no labelling on the disk AT ALL! Not even on the inner ring - NOTHING!

If the DVD hadn't been sealed in Universal-branded shrinkwrap and if I hadn't have purchased the DVD from a reputable supplier, I would've thought it was a pirate copy!

This is the first DVD I have ever seen that is like this.

Anyone else got any DVDs like this?

i bought a region 1 copy of legally blonde ages ago from play, and the disk has no labelling on it whatsoever. it`s even more confusing because it`s a flipper disk with all the extra`s on the reverse side:rolleyes:

btw even pirate dvd`s have labels(or so i`m told)

maybe there was a cock up in the labeling process and a few skipped through without getting one.

come to think of it there might be small writing on the inner circle of the dvd, so technically my first post is incorrect, but there is no print covering the disc, so to the untrained eye it looks blank:)

I watched that on Channel 5 a month or so ago.
I actually enjoyed it:blush: but it's very derivative. There's some surprises that come out of the blue, a lot of gore, and some rather harsh moments (for a "mainstream" film). It's certainly not a horror movie though. Not unless Seven is a horror movie aswell.

When's Christopher Lambert going to make another decent film?

I've had several no-label DVDs but they're all flippers with just a tiny ring of writing around the core

my copy of resurrection r1 from play is the same-I thought I'd found a dvd that my player wouldn't play but it was just the unlabelled side.

I thought it had elements of the supernatural in it reading from the brief synopsis. Oh well - it sounds good though and it only cost me a few quid so I'm sure I'll enjoy it at least once :)

Same here! The disk was in the case upside down!

It's not a flipper so that's what I found odd.

Oh well, I guess Universal are trying to save costs in an effort to reclaim some of their dosh back from replacing everyone's BTTF disks

    Where'd you get it?
If I can find it reasonably cheap I'll probably pick up a copy myself. I've been wondering when it'll pop up on one of those budget UK labels...

Took them about 6 weeks to get it in stock though but was worth the wait as it only worked out about £6.80 with delivery as I put two DVDs in one parcel ($5.95 delivery charge for up to 2 x 130g DVDs).

It's still priced up on there at $13.49 (Canadian) :D

    Cool.
I'll wait and see if you like it before ordering one. If not, I'll take it off your hands if you like :smashin:

    Okay, sure :)

But I tend to like a lot of naff films, as you've pointed out to me in the past - so don't hold your breath ;)

I'd say few come in cases. If you do, you're the exception. Use some kitchen roll like everybody else

    i may be misunderstanding you

but if it is a flipper how can it have writing on the disk apart from the inner circle

you can get blank media with no writing on

You misunderstood him. His second point was addressing another issue I raised.

    Stranger,

What are the specs of the R2? There is no info on Play.

I'm interested to see how they compare with the R1 Collector's Edition :)

It's not been released yet (no fixed date either), hence the lack of specs or any other info.... and me asking about it. It first appeared a few months ago but then got pulled off the schedules. My guess is it'll be either Prism, Hollywood or someone like that that eventually release it. Bare bones no doubt

Ah, I presumed that was the version Stranger had bought because he included your initial quote about where I purchased.

The R1 has surprisingly few extras for a 'collector's edition' anyway

I'm afraid I did like it mate, so will be holding on to it firmly :)

Felt a bit like a TV movie, and the director needs to go on a course about 'plot pacing' (he was whizzing through stuff far too fast), but other than that - I really enjoyed it. Really grim too!

Russell Mulcahy (however it's spelt) has good days and bad days when it comes to directing. His Duran Duran pop vids were good and always included little nods to 80's Italian zombie movies (shots stolen from Zombie Flesheaters, a poster for The Beyond behind the band, little things like that), Razorback was ace, Highlander was excellent, but after that it's all very hit/miss. His Mummy cash-in movie should definitely be avoided at all costs. Resurrection's the best film of his I've seen in quite a while.

I'm glad you liked it though, that's £7 well spent:clap:

    ***spolier***

Biggest surprise for me was the flashback when Lamberts kid gets run over - last thing I was expecting was to see him actually go under the wheels:eek:

Yeah, like I said - some very grim moments :zonked:

Is this the same guy that directed The Mummy and The Mummy Returns then? I liked both of them :D

Nope, he did a cash-in called Talos the Mummy or something like that, part of a crop of bad Mummy movies hoping to capitalise on the success of stephen Sommers terrible Mummy/Returns movies. They're all best avoided although you can find some cheap enough to gamble on if you like bad films
