Can you play a VR mode disc in a PC burner please?
witters - I am probably newer at this than you but got my first DVD writer yesterday and still 'messing' with it. I recorded something last night in VR mode - and PC would not recognise it. I did not finalise this, not sure right now if you do finalise VR mode DVD's. Will record something tonight in video mode and see if PC recognises that, with and without finalisation.
probably no help what-so-ever - - - -I'll get me coat !!
Yes, well my LG does.
Also depends on the software you use.
TMPG DVD Author certainly supports it
Thanks for that.
VR mode DVDs are not finalised. Finalising is only for Video mode.
Are you sure that's correct? I have seen finalised VR mode discs.
VR Mode discs should work fine in all DVD readers provided it reads DVD-RW discs. VR mode discs do not require finalising.
However Windows does not have file system drivers for reading the UDF version 2 file format used (Longhorn will), so you may get an "Invalid Function" message if trying to view the disc contents.
All DVD Player software and most authoring packages like ULead MovieFactory 3 contain their own UDF file system drivers and will play or import from the disc, even though Windows refuses to acknowledge it.
If you want to see the disc contents in Windows explorer you can download InCD4 (the InCD reader is free http://www.nero.com/en/26230.html).
Well ok, VR mode -RW discs can optionally be finalised (fixed) but it's not the same as making them DVD compatible (ie Video mode) which is generally what is meant by finalising.
Separate names with a comma.
