This is now overtaken by events - the problem has ceased (2/11/17)

If you are having reception problems at present it is likely to be due to the current atmospheric conditions which are resulting in the potential for interference from distant transmitters.

There is nothing you can do about this and the last thing you should do to sort it out is retune. The most likely thing that will do is to delete the entries for the missing channels and you will have no idea when things return to normal.

All you can do is just wait for things to settle down again.

I was unaffected for a change. It's a pain in the but for me getting the usual earache from HWMBO, who, it would seem would prefer the old ghosty, French programmes screwing up the analogue programme material.

Yes, I agree with you about the regional differences in the problem.

At the time I wrote that post it was unclear to me just how widespread the problem was, but it was clearly affecting many.

Here, south of Crystal Palace, some were losing all Mux, suggesting signals may have been getting down all the way from Bilsdale, so it could well have been affecting the whole of England and possibly beyond.

Anyway, apologies for not making it clearer.
